The essays we have been writing for many years now have never really changed, they have stayed the same, especially when writing for all the different subjects. This quote tries to get the message that good writing can't be accomplished when you're using the same method (usually the 5 paragraphs) to write different subjects. There's no such thing as "one set of rules" to writing. When there's no rules, you allow your mind to think creatively.
